Microsoft Volunteer Matching

Thank You!

Microsoft, as well as many other local employers, offers to match volunteer hours by employees to approved non-profit organization with monetary donations.  This is a great way to help fund our Pack’s activities. For Microsoft employees, the following guide will walk you through how to file your volunteering hours.
If you work for another employer with a similar matching program, please let the Pack know and we can provide a matching guide for your co-workers as well. The Pack could not function without our volunteers, so thank-you for both the time you spend with our boys, and ensuring they get the full benefit of your donation.

How to Get Matching

How to match your volunteer time

  1. Visit the Microsoft http://aka.ms/Give website, and select the US Give Home
  2. Click on the Volunteer menu at the top of the page, and then Track Volunteer Time on the second-level menu.
  3. Under “What did you volunteer for?” search for “TROOP 751” and select the "add" button
  4. Now enter the date range, number of volunteer hours and a summary description of what these hours were for (e.g. leading activities, chaperoning, planning).

It can be confusing to the Benevity / Give admins if you add Pack information (e..g., 'This is for Pack 571") in this field, so please do not mention Pack 571 here.
  5. Take a screenshot of the results and email it to leadership@cubpack571.org so out Treasurer can track and reconcile the matching payment with the Troop 751 Treasurer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@cubpack571.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Any time spent participating in Pack or Den activities where you are providing your time in support of scouting is your volunteer time. This could include attending Den meetings, going on hikes with a group of Scouts, participating in adventure activities with a group of scouts, even attending Scout camp activities. The only provision is that it must be with more scouts than just your child.

For the latter, you can count all of the time you are at camp as chaperoning time (assuming you are keeping an eye on more than just your child), but not the time sleeping at an overnight camp. For example, at a 4-day resident camp, you can count up to 16-hours per day if you are actively participating in camp events and chaperoning the scouts.

You may also count any planning activities you do in support of scouting (e.g., planning Pinewood Derby, Popcorn or Chocolate selling etc.).

You can submit volunteer matching as often as you like. Most people submit it monthly or quarterly. Just be sure to email leadership@cubpack571.org with a screenshot of your matching submission so that we can reconcile it.

The funds the Pack collects from volunteer matching directly support Pack activities. These fund help us keep our costs to families as low as possible, and pay for Pack supplies and events. For example, when the local supplier of Pinewood Derby track rental went out of business, it was because of the volunteer matching that we received that we were able to buy our own track and ensure that we would always have a great Pinewood Derby experience.

No, annual dues are not a donation and therefore don't qualify for donation matching. If you elect to make a monetary donation to the Pack, it would be matched by Microsoft.
